The 2012 season has opened with plenty of water and lots of early season paddlers taking advantage of it.  I have had several campers on the river so far this season.  The campers have been saying that the overnight trips are awesome ( we knew that already right?).  I have been happy to be able to introduce several people this year to the joys of overnight river kayaking.  I like to think we go above and beyond in helping to facilitate your overnight adventure.  We help with everything from tips on packing, providing extra dry bags and boxes to helping  pack your boat at the riverside so that you have it balanced right.  I try to make sure that your first overnight river trip is a success and a positive experience.

2012 has also brought expanded routes on the Tallapoosa River, stretching trips out to Drydens Mill in Alabama, this covers over 20 miles of river.  From a easy float to more challenging longer distance trips, Tallapoosa Paddling Company has you taken care of.

We took an overnight trip on the Tallapoosa outfitted by Eric at TPC. The group consisted of two adults and three boys, aged 7-10 years old. I had mentioned to Eric in March of this year, that we were thinking about doing an overnight trip, but wasn't exactly sure on what to bring, where to stop, or what canoes or kayaks would work. Eric was able to recommend exactly what we would need for our trip. He knew what time would be a good time to start, where to spend the night, when we could expect to be off the water the next day, and he recommended the kayaks he thought would fit our needs. I have to say that he nailed it. Our trip was amazing. We loaded a good amount of gear into our 5 kayaks and after a short class on kayaking for the kids, we were off. The kids quickly adapted to the kayaks that Eric had suggested. It was very satisfying to see the boys paddle and explore the river at their own pace and power. We spent the night on a gravel bar that night. There was plenty of wood to supply our fire through the night. We even took the Jackson Coosa out to fish under a full moon while listening to the whip-poor-wills and owls. We finished our trip the next afternoon at Drydens Mill. We were able to call Eric and he was there to pick us up within 15 minutes. I cannot tell you how much fun this trip was. It was an incredible experience that we will never forget. It was something that our boys will remember for the rest of their lives. Eric was informative and professional. He was able to outfit our entire trip with gear, transportation, and most importantly, his advice. Thanks Eric! It was a great trip!
